    It is possible to convey less than emotions in fact: One or two branches of 20th-century music are emotionless in nature. The serial music of Schoenberg and later, the so-called total serialism of Stockhausen display a grand lack of emotion, instead controlling the music through mathematical manipulations eg retrograding (playing back to front), doubling or halving the note values etc.
    Some chance music is also emotionless, eg the famous 4′33″ by John Cage, where the performer remains silent for the said duration, and the ‘music’ consists of any background noise the audience may make.
    In the Baroque and Classical eras, the emphasis on music was for entertainment, not conveying of emotions. This isn’t to say the music is emotionless; it was only from about Beethoven onwards and the outset of Romanticism in music that the role of music shifted more towards conveying emotions.

    Yes; music is very powerful in that it evokes special thoughts and feelings by producing a particular sound, in a particular tempo and usually sounding like something the listener is familiar with.
    In the piece of music “and I saw a new heaven”….there is a part talking about rumbling thunder and the notes are written out suc that the organ at the point produces a sound just like rumbling thunder which evokes the exact feeling and thought in anyone ever heard thunder rumble;
    Music can also evoke other thoughts and emotions, even without words; like in a philharmonic performance; some kind of music can evoke great sadness, so yes!

    The question seems to be about what one can convey through non-vocal sounds, other than emotions.
    No I think only emotions can be conveyed.
    But this is more than enough. Through emotions on can convey an idea, a philosophy.
    A philosophy is a whole way of thinking, and affects everything one does.
    Or if you consider morse-code music, then thats another story.

    I believe so yes…..Tommy Emmanuel and his brother are the best guitarists this country of mine has ever seen or likely to..they, in their older age are still very much in demand and as soon as they strike the first chords they command your attention..
    It is not only music, it is also their body language and I swear thos guitars are talking to us on every note..If you are a guitarist, you know who I am talking about..they have done work for the biggest names in your country also…..good luck..take a lesson from their pick !!..you will do ok…
