I need to block out the sounds of rulers and pencils dropping to the floor from my fellow students. I like listening to Explosions in the Sky (your hand in mine) and think I’d like sigur ros without the lyrics. Anybody have any other good pieces/ bands?

Why not get into jazz? Try starting with these albums:
Kind of Blue – Miles Davis
A Love Supreme – John Coltrane
The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady – Charles Mingus
    Brilliant Corners – Thelonious Monk
    Time Out – Dave Brubeck

Daft Punk, MOBY (I love Moby) :) Rinocerose
Moby has some really good lyric-less tracks like Memory Gospel, Mothers of the Night, etc.
Daft Punk has amazing tracks like Alive, Robot Rock, Aerodynamic.
And Led Zeppelin has a song called “Bonzo’s Montreux” which I love, and it’s all percussion. Hope you like them :)

Pictures at an Exhibition – Modest Mussorgsky.
It is a series of songs describing the paintings of one of his friends at that friends’ wake. late 19th C. Russian composer. I prefer the original piano version, but Ravel’s orchestration has it’s own flavor
I second Kind of Blue – Miles Davis.
anything by the Afro-Celt Sound System
    Scheherazade – Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
The Celtic Album – The Boston Pops
